Travel as Life: (VIDEO) An Interview with Catherine Smith of Her Bags Were Packed
Travel "can be the place you learn to unpack your bags and begin to live, love and travel lighter -- both at home and on the road," says Catherine Smith.
This week I decided (sort of at the last minute) to interview my friend and fellow travel writer, Catherine Smith, of Her Bags Were Packed (video below). Her Bags Were Packed is a “women’s solo travel site — with a spin,” where Catherine helps “women release emotional baggage” and explore how solo travel helps “on that journey.” She offers trip coaching, planning, and support.
I met Catherine in 2019 on a press trip and we talked about the impact travel can have on a person’s life and what you can learn about yourself in traveling, especially when traveling solo. I found her angle on travel to be compelling and I hope you do as well.
(My newest at The Daily Beast is “This National Park You’ve Probably Never Heard of Is One of the Top 10 Most Visited.”)
The message of Her Bags Were Packed is relevant for any traveler. For many of us who have been stranded and locked away from the rest of the world this last year, we’re going to need travel therapy to work through the impact of a pandemic. In this video (below), Catherine talks about Her Bags were Packed, how solo travel can make us more courageous in the other parts of our lives, and offers some tips for solo travel.
If you enjoyed the video, then check out her website Her Bags Were Packed and follower her on Instagram and Twitter.
One last thing, I decided (at the last minute) to do this recording (Friday), so let me know in the comments if you’d like to see more of this. If I do this kind of thing more, I’d like to get a better mic and background.
